Defend Your Castle

  • Summary: Defend against anorexic attackers in this medieval defense game. Sticks and stones may break my bones...
Hints: It's often better to save up your resources several rounds and buy something big instead of spending on things that have a per round upkeep.

  • WalkThrough: Don't look if you don't want to know. Save till Temple. Convert as many as you can(4-5 per level) while saving for archery. After archery get as many archers as you need but no more than eight. KEEP CONVERTING ALWAYS CONVERT! Don't get Demolition Lab, worthless and your most prized asset is your converted. No more than eight archers, save for workshop. No more than eight archers, save for mana pool. Should be able to acquire both items before level 13. At level 13 (you will lose some archers it happens, don't get more units or you'll just lose them too). Now you can START using your converts, I suggest only a few in workshop the rest in wizards. Rack up your wizards forget archers for right now. Leave 5-6 converts at least to see what you need more of. Keep killing normally except when giants come use "1" or the kill spell to take them out, if you put enough wizards in you can use explode which works better and if timed well makes levels easy. Once you acquired around 35 wizards, start using "3" and converting when you feel like there's a break coming up and your mana will regenerate before next storm. KEEP CONVERTING IN THE CASTLE ITS FREE! The only thing you should have to purchase is castle upgrades I did this periodically till 100000 armor. I got my wizards up, they are your crutch you'll lose them so make sure you have plenty of backup converts. Once your stable on converts and have over 50 wizards, hopefully 100. Start investing chunks of converts into archers and a little in workshop. The BIGGEST mistake I made and I'm sure others have is actually 3 mistakes: 1. Forget to convert in castle. 2. Not knowing that your converts go past what the screen shows, the screeen shows (10?) I think I've spent 110 before. So they may not show but they're there. 3. Not having backup converts. You get "hit" by the game every once in awhile and it steals your men. If you have plenty of backups its not a problem. I'm on level 30 something, 100000 armor, 350 archers, 150 wizards (no point I convert anything that makes it through), 100 workshop (health bar never goes down RARELY and its a smidge which these guys soak up). I have I believe close to 200 converts in my backup just in case I get hit but so far haven't been hit for more than 91 archers. Have fun ;-)

by vince on August 4, 2005 at 12:00am

  • Great game! Anybody knows why do you loose archers?

    by Nitj\'sefni on August 4, 2005 at 12:00am

  • Yeeoouchh!!!! I just took a hit for 469 archers, 139 wizards and 61 workshop craftsmen. And I was able to replenish to 400 archers, 125 wizards, and 100 workshop 25 less wizards and a 100 less archers. sigh. oh well. Think I'll quit playing now as all it is is converting with spell 3. With nothing left to spend money on I have 500000 armor at level 40. I don't know who went to level 73 but I'd never play that long. Tedious.

by jimbo on August 4, 2005 at 12:00am

  • This game starts oyut fun, but for me it started sucking around level twenty, when after EVERY level it would take away almost every one of my men. if i made 47 wizards, i would lose 46. after four turns of being left with a single wizard and 2 craftsmen (regardless of how many i made) i shoved it. (whining voice) "so far i haven't been hit once and i ahve 91 archers"! wtf this game hates me. being left with 3 men was actually an improvemen.t it slaughtered every one of my men for levels 19-27. This game is a good distraction for a bout 40 minutes, but wtf with the hits?

  • how do you convert?

by Chris on August 16, 2005 at 12:00am

  • just got to level 29 with 300 wizards, 200 craftsmen and 853 archers. i reckon watching tv would be more challenging than theese later levels:P wicked game

by Bob on August 19, 2005 at 12:00am

  • how the hell do you get to 300 wizards? This game takes nearly all of my wizards and archers away after each round. Since it does not say why, I'd give this a negative voting. Otherwise it'd be pretty much fun ...

by Ben on September 1, 2005 at 12:00am

  • You are all idiots, everyone who complains about losing men. Why? BECAUSE THE UPKEEP. Every turn, the game deducts an upkeep at the cost of money. If you don't have enough money, they take your units instead. That's how the game works. and please use proper grammar when posting, it takes approximately ten extra seconds. Walkthrough ------------ IMPORTANT - THIS IS IN NO WAY THE ONLY WAY TO GET PAST LEVEL 10, JUST A VARIANT I HAVE CREATED. 1. Keep going using click to destroy, this should take you to level 5. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING. 2. At the end of level 4, buy a temple. Start level 5 with a temple. Convert everything you can, you need troops. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING. If you need repairs badly, I suggest you start over, because you need money. 3. When you finish level 9, if you followed above instructions you should have enough money to get a Mana Pool. Fortify your castle and repair it, but keep around 5000 gold/gil/money/zennys/dollars whatever. Now, start to ttrain your wizards. I reccomend 10 to start with, and move on to 15 eventually. This will get you all the spells in the game. Personally, I use spell 2 by pressing "2" on the keypad. Use Spell "1", the death spell, on special, hard to kill enemies. 4. At level 15, you should have enough money to buy a demolition shop for use in emergencies. END - By now, you should have a good grasp of tactics in the game, and be able to choose for yourself what to do. Enjoy, Webber.

  • how you convert

by fgvb on September 3, 2005 at 12:00am

  • This game is way too easy. Gotta work at it til about level 7 or 8, then by level 9 at latest you can afford to put up your first 10-15 archers to help out, after that you build Mana Pool and rack up a few mages so you can use Spell 2 to clear out the mass groups while converting as many as you can. By 20 or 25 you can put up enough Archers, Mages, and Builders and you do nothing but cast conversion, convert in castle, and throw the occasional Spell 2 to clear out a cluster at the door. By time I hit 35 or 40 I wasn't doing anything other than converting. Worked my way up, eventually, to 1800 Archers, 400 Builders, 200 Mages - I haven't actually had to DO anything since level 50 or 55, and I'm up to 80+ now. The stuff dies so fast I don't even bother trying to convert for now. I figure EVENTUALLY they'll start piling up fast enough for my to start converting again, but they can't even damage my wall (I currently have 1,630,000 defense and I haven't seen it even 1 point short of full by end of a round in the past 20 levels) All I do now is leave it running in background, occasionally check in to advance it to next level, and whenever I rack up a couple million gold I'll spend myself down to around 1 million (I like to keep a windfall so I don't have to worry about upkeep, and thus don't take a single unit hit - ever) on wall fortification.

  • Great game. It gets a trifle boring after a while.

by Lord Dan on September 20, 2005 at 12:00am

  • Wow, what a great game! It's just one of those games you can keep on playing you know? It's great that you can save your game though, so you can keep the game going. I think that I've been doing quite well: Just done stage 19, been on it for about two hours and have 150 wizards, 250 archers, 4000 casulaties, spendable points: 600,000 and 1,230,280 hit points. Pretty cool game huh? Of course, I'm supposed to be doing my homework, rather than wasting my time on idle, mindless persuits - but what ya gonna do? Sucks to my parents, I'll just fail my exams. This is much more fun!!! lol CLM XXX

by Annoyed person on September 28, 2005 at 12:00am

  • Annoyed person: I like the walkthroughs. It's nice to see what other people are doing, compare strategies and see if you missed anything. Also really helpful if you get stuck. If you don't want to read, don't. Jimbo even said "Don't look if you don't want to know." CONVERTING: Buy a temple. Drop guys into your castle. Wait for the yellow light to stop before dropping in another.

Make sure you fortify your castle at least 300 times and a 1000 wood workers to survive the last level good luck gamers email me with impossible games i am the the brownwarrior (king of games)

  • i hate thi sgame it steals ALL OF MY MEN and i love men

by jtreat on November 8, 2005 at 12:00am

  • Okay, I can beat this game hands down, easily get to where the castle runs itself. What you do is get upgrades in this order: Temple -> Mana Pool -> Archery -> Machine Shop Nothing else is necessary! you can fortify if you want to, but w/ the mages u got u just convert away and basically follow plumbobsimishmash's guide for the rest. how you lose men: you lose men when you buy too many men in one turn. if your upkeep surpasses the amount of money you had going into the stage, you will lose men. so don't buy too many in one turn! that is all =)

    by Rogue01pk on November 8, 2005 at 12:00am

  • haha, i just started playing, im on lvl 25, and i have so many archers, im typing this while playing. i just pumped 570 converts into archers at one time. its crazy, whats the highest body count thus far?

by Zack Attack on June 23, 2006 at 12:00am

  • This game has a good fun factor. However, realism is strong, maybe too strong. There is a unit upkeep, which reduces your salary income slightly - that's fine. But I want to know how the units are lost. There is upkeep, which the money pays for them: food, motivation, health, etc. Why would units be lost? There is already upkeep. 4/5 of al my units are always lost. But I thought there was upkeep. The logic lacks much. Maybe the units were killed? No way - I don't see enemy units with bow and arrow. So how could they die? No sense in that area of the game. Progress is delayed and impeded greatly because of this nuisance and neglect towards realism. Why do u lose units, of there is upkeep? Where is logic and sense when u need it?

  • This game is fun untill you get to the couple levels when the big guys come and try to blow you away because thats when the stupid unit upkeep comes in and takes baout all of you men away regardless of how many you buy...this is something the creator has to work on in this game. Maybe make a show of how many men you can pay for and how...this always pisses me of when i play this game.

  • you have to have wizards!!!, for the first 10-15 lvls u have to have lots of wizards, get your magic up really high so you can spam the explosion one (press 2), once u get really high magic u can spam the auto-convert (press 3). then you should get archers and workers, you dont need many workers, but if you get a whole bunch of archers they will kill all enemies for you i've only recently played in school, and im on lvl 42 and have 400 of everything. this game is extremely easy. you guys that dont know how to do stuff just click on help spell 1- you press one and a skull replaces your hand, click on a guy, and he dies spell 2- press 2, i symbol thingy replaces your hand, click on a guy, and it explodes all enemeies around him (big range) spell 3- press 3, a cross replaces your hand, click on a guy and he converts

by me on September 21, 2006 at 12:00am

  • Hey, gamers! A few tips for beginners: Upon completing Stage 4, purchase the temple which converts enemies into archers, wizards and craftsmen. Next, purchase the Archery Range so you have some attack force to protect you from enemies (around Level 7). After that, depending on the state of your castle you can either purchase the Work Shop which trains craftsmen who will repair your castle (Level 10) or the Mana Pool which trains wizards which are the best men in the game (Level 11 if you haven't bought the Work Shop). Make sure to have wizards before Level 14, otherwise your castle will be decimated by giants.

  • There is actually one cheat. At the opening menu, press tab, until "new game" is highlighted, and type in " splattery ". You will go to the buy screen with 45k. type splattery in again as many times as you want, but the more money you have, the higher the level you start at.

  • I've figured it out. Don't bother spending much at all on any wall reinforcements. Keep a large amount of money. At the end of a round, you have to pay all the soldiers money but that money isn't from the round you just beat. For example, If I spent all my money I won't have any left to pay the soldiers at the end of the round. That money is taken from the previous amount of what you had during the round.

    by Wedsa5 on July 12, 2007 at 6:31pm

  • a guy, make sure you have the temple and the archer thing then get about 10 archers by clicking on the red flag. if it doesnt change the "0" to a "1" then u havnt converted anyone. to do so grab a stick guy and gently place him in your castle. there will be a yellow beam and when that is over u can make him an archer/craftsman/wizard.

    by Wedsa5 on July 12, 2007 at 6:34pm

  • Ok here's what you gotta do. Theres a cheat for this game, and i'll provide it later;

Also, if you right click the game box and click "Forward" the stickmen freeze giving you perfect opportunities to get casualties without losing health or time! when it freezez, drag the stickmen (i will reffer to them as SMen) into the air, right click, and click "back". the SMne will drop.

    Follow these steps:

1.New Game; Kill at least 8-9 Smen in Stage 1. use the above tip if necassary

    2. Continue step 1 until you get at least $5000 by Stage 4. Buy the temple.

    3. Carry on killing Smen. at the start on S5 (stage 5), get the first Sman and drop him in the centre of your castle to convert him (won't work without temple). Get about 4-5 converted Smen a level (the Converted smen will appear under the health bar. the most you will ever see is 11, but it carries on past the screen).

    4. When you have enough $, get the archery first or the mana pool first. it doesnt matter which way around, i got the M pool first, cos i prefer not losing my wrist.

    5. Convert up to a TOTAL OF 7 or 8 mages/archers. Carry on as normal until level 13. you can get the Workshop if you want. now Losing Smen in level 13 is normal, it didnt happen to me until later on in the game. The trick of how you lose is, LOOK AT HOW MUCH $ YOU HAVE AFTER A LEVEL! IF YOU HAD $10000, YOU WOULD BE ABLE TO GET 50 WIZARDS, AS THEY COST $200 each, but its unadvisable. In this case, keep looking at your money before you convert a mage/archer!

    5. Carry on until you get the hang of it, take my above advice, i got myself 400 wizards in one and lost 365!

    6. If you can afford, get your archers up to 100 at least by level 25, and your wizards to 160 by level 27. have loads of Craftsmen, you'll need it. Remember you can right click/Forward then Right click/Back

Heres a cheat!: At the begining of the game, leave your mouse. press [tab] so theres a yellow box around "New Game" type "Splattery". you will be named "Cheater" and start with $45000. Keep typing splattery to get $45000 more each time. BTW, i should say, the more facilities you have the higher the stage is, so i would normally just get the M pool

    Hope i helped!

by soudaboy on March 2, 2008 at 3:38pm

  • Quit the complaints about losing units... read after each lvl... unit upkeep... u cant pay your workers to work for you (they will find new jobs) lol this is the easiest game seeing as how it plays itself past lvl 9 if done right.. and its pointless after that because i could let it run for the next 2 weeks on my comp and i would be fine

  • heh wow i died finally

    lvl 231 woot :)

by guest on March 3, 2009 at 8:20pm

  • This is the easiest game ever if you just make sure that you keep some of your money at the end of each level (don't spend it all on upgrades) and none of your units will die so you just make tonnes and tonnes of each thing and they can't even get near you. Start the game as normal and build up your money, don't buy anything until you have a temple, make some archers but just make sure you keep a few thousand of your points for maintainance and then buy the repair workshop and manapool. Each time make sure you have enough points to make sure your units do not die and then just build up your castle walls and the number of archers etc.

by Dan on April 8, 2009 at 09:14am

  • You only lose units if your total monry before the level is less then the cost of unit upkeep at the end of the level. Why can no-one understand this?

by Kip on April 8, 2009 at 3:04pm

  • At level 350 or so (I havent been there but I saw this guy do it) the enemies get real fast so if your intending to go that far get a LOT of workshop me!

by Ben on April 14, 2009 at 11:37am

  • Lvl 125
    1500 archers
    1500 in workshop

    2 mil hp.
    And getting kinda bored

by Glenn on April 25, 2009 at 10:03am

  • Level 38
    -200 Mage
    -500 Carpenter
    -1650 Archers

    :)

    TIPS:
    1. Even though unit upkeep is deducted at the end of the round, keep in mind that it is actually deducted at the START OF EACH ROUND. What I mean by this is, before you click ok to start the round, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH SPENDABLE POINTS TO COVER THE UNIT UPKEEP DEDUCTED AT THE END OF THAT ROUND.

Ie, if you have 10 archers to begin the round, costing a total of 2000, AND you want to add another 10 archers in that next round, you NEED at least 4000 spendable points at the START OF THE ROUND, NOT THE END because you have 2000 from the existing 10 and another 2000 from the new 10 archers. MAKE SURE YOU DO THIS!

    2. Don't overbuild archers. I know I did because I pretty much got bored of this game, but if you want to play up to level 100 or whatever, make sure you have less archer than you need. This way, you can convert people and not just kill them straight away. That is how I got to 1600 archers in level 38 when the guy above me only has 1500 in level 125.

Other than that, enjoy. It's WAY TOO EASY AFTER LEVEL 20!

by guest on June 8, 2009 at 7:49pm

  • Why would anyone need cheats for a game so ridiculously easy?

300 archers 100 repairmen can carry you to at least level 70, probably 80 or 90, without you even having to touch the mouse, and you can get thousands by then if you really care to. Seriously, why the hell cheat? That's like cheating in a game of chess with your 2 year old nephew.

by baffled on July 29, 2009 at 5:24pm

  • if u wanna use archer u have to have the temple and drop them in they will come up a blue and yellow and then u buy the archer and click the flag to how ever many archerers u want

by guest on July 31, 2009 at 03:19am

  • yeah it is too easy...the first 20 levels i think were a bit hard..but then you get enough wizards that you just put your mouse at the left side and rapidly alternate between pushing 3 and the LMB.

The enemies dont get any different later in the game.....
I thought maybe there would be a dragon eventually(if you look at the XGENstudios website, and look at this game, it shows a pic of a dragon in game)

by guest on July 31, 2009 at 4:36pm

  • heeeeeeyyy....DON'T listen to people saying about whats past like level 100 and the end boss and stuff...the real end of the game to me is making it past 15 or so...after that with your magic it easily overpowers the enemies...especially once you get a high wall hitpoint number and a ton of workers...then all you do is start the game and then go do something else....i'm at about level 30...i think...haven't touched a thing in the game since 20
