Somewhat of an internet sensation, Crimson Room was one of the first and most interesting 'escape' type games. All you have to do is figure out how to get out of the room. Sounds pretty simple, but it takes a while to figure things out.
If you get stuck, type 'crimson room walkthrough' into google and you'll get plenty of help. The code for the safe is 1994.

the battery is on the side of the bed, there is also a thin metal stik on the other side of the bed. there is a key in the cd tray. take the metal stick and the thin ring and put them in the slots in the "box of mistery" -kaysha

Crimson Room walkthrough. There's a ring in the bowl. There's a key under the pillow of the bed. Click on the bottom left hand corner of the bed and you'll look between the mattress and the headboard - that's where the metal piece is. Open the shade, you'll find a small key. Open and shut it a few more times and a small ring will fall out. In the two top drawers are a memorandum and cd case. Unlock the two bottom drawers and find a power cord and the box. Click under the dresser and you'll find the tape. Use the power cord on the radio and press the power button. Now the cd slot will be openable and you will find a third key in it. When looking at the blank red wall click near the bottom left corner and you will zoom near the side of the bed and see the battery. Now put all the parts on the box and open it. Put the battery and tape in the box. Click it and a tape will play on the wall. A guy dances for a bit and then you'll see a little crosshair appear where he's pointing. Put your mouse over the crosshair and when the tape ends click around it a bit. An outline appears in the wall, click it. The combo to the safe was originally on the URL of the memo, but that link is broken. The combo is 1994, plus you need to use the third key in the lock. Open the safe and you will find a screwdriver. Click a little above the door knob and it'll zoom in on the doorknob. Use the screwdriver on the door knob and it falls out. Click the hole. You win, congrats! -harley

After the dancing dude film finished it just went right back to the CD player thing, i clicked the left hand mouse button and pressed play it took me to the door then i pressed play again, and it opened and for the baterie thing you kinda have to keep swithching frm the blank wall to the far side of the bed the batrie is in between the bed and the wall. -RoCkStAr

We are stuck and we already found the first battery [We found it on the side of the bed, you can do that by clicking on the left side of the wall and it should lead you to the bedside. If you can't do it, keep trying or either that give up] We need the second battery. No cheat site has even mentioned it.. Once we find the battery we know where to go and crap like that.. The code does seem to change. For me it was 8440, i got that from the url on the memo. What might be screwing up some people is that AFTER you set the code, you then have to get the key you retrieved from the cd player and THEN open the safe. -John

The code 1994 DOES WORK. You have to set the dial to 1994, then click on the last key and then the safe. The last key comes out of the cd player when you plug the power cord in and hit the on button. -harley

you guys, look at the memo you pick up from one of the drawers and go to that URL, there you'll get the safe combo. the combo changes, so depending on which one you get when you go to the URL, that's the combo you have to use. plus, you have to already select the correct key before you start entering the combo for the safe. -Lisa

ok to clear up the confusion i have done all the steps up to opening the safe, when i put in the passcode 1994 it does not work, when i put in the #'s i got from the URL (5566) it does not work, i also tried every combanation put on this page and it still doesn't work, and yes i click on the key and then the keyhole after i put in the passcode -JJMcJay

Well... e number is indeed 1994. i tried it & it works... once u key in the number to the safe, u got to use the third key that u found in the Cd player and press the safe's key hole. then, the safe will open & 'PA"!!!! u will find ur screwdriver to the door in the safe.. -Sharon

*SAFE NUMBER* i was stuck with the safe numvber like everyone else!! it is not 1994!! it is what you get on the url. the trick is though you have to get out of the game find the number then go back and start over put the number and thats it!! -Suad
